Lacrisert Packaging Once-daily,* preservative-free Lacrisert® lubricates and protects eyes all day. When you have dry eyes, the quantity and quality of your tears may be reduced. Prescription-only Lacrisert® helps conserve your tears to provide continuous relief from your moderate to severe dry eye symptoms all day. In some patients, Lacrisert® may also help slow, stop or reverse further damage to your corneal surface.

Lacrisert® is inserted into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Once inserted, Lacrisert® begins to gently dissolve to lubricate and protect the surface of the eye for all day relief. 91% of patients in a clinical study successfully placed and retained Lacrisert® over time. Prior to use, please read carefully the Instructions for Using Lacrisert®. It is recommended that you speak to your health care practitioner and practice insertion while you are in his or her office

In a study comparing Lacrisert® once daily with artificial tears used at least 4 times a day, Lacrisert® was more effective at relieving symptoms and was able to help existing tears stay longer on the eye surface. Most patients in clinical studies preferred Lacrisert® over artificial tears.

lacrisert capsule for dry eye therapy

Lacrisert® has been prescribed to patients for more than 2 decades. There are no known interactions with other eye medications.

Lacrisert® was well tolerated in clinical studies. The following adverse reactions have been reported in patients treated with Lacrisert® but were, in most instances, mild and temporary: blurring of vision, eye discomfort or irritation, matting or stickiness of eyelashes, and red eyes. Lacrisert® should not be used by patients who are hypersensitive to hydroxypropyl cellulose. If improperly placed, Lacrisert® may result in corneal abrasion.

*Some patients may require the flexibility of twice-daily use for optimal results.1

*Most patients find relief from Using Lacrisert® once a day, but some patients may find they need a second dose to achieve the optimal benefits of Lacrisert® therapy.
